Hotel
Ala ***
A short walk from St. Mark's Square, the Academy
of Fine Arts, the Fenice theatre, Palazzo Grassi
and Ca' Rezzonico. Decidedly among the most outstanding
of three star hotels in Venice. What is now Hotel
Ala was in fact a house, of which historical traces
exist from the early eighteenth century, as can
be seen on paintings, including one by Canaletto.
The building was made into a hotel only in the
1960s and it has been managed by the Salmaso family
for over 15 years. Hotel Ala has two different
wings with a total of 85 bedrooms, which have
been renovated recently with every modern convenience.
It is within walking distance of the opera house.
