Many
of our destinations have regular annual Festivals. Operas
Abroad can arrange a tour/holiday to these festivals which
really are a must for any avid opera fan. We have organised
several tours and holidays to some of the more popular
events for your enjoyment. Also, on occasion (subject
to demand) we arrange escorted group tours. These will
also be listed on this page as and when they arise. Than
you for taking the time to visit our website.
Bayreuth
Wagner Festival - Germany
This annual festival
is held in the famous theatre created by Wagner
himself specifically for the performance of his
own works. The location of Bayreuth was made for
many reasons not the least of which was the view
that the town had no other cultural strengths which
would compete with the work of the Wagner Theatre.
The theatre opened in 1876 and the many architectural
innovations were responses to Wagner’s demand
for a more ‘democratic’ seating arrangement,
a clear view of the stage for all the audience and
for the accommodation of the huge orchestra required
in Wagner’s operas. Please click HERE

| The
57th Puccini Festival 2011 Torre del Lago (Near
Lucca), Italy. July and August 2011
This
Festival is devoted entirely to the works of Puccini.
The operas are performed outdoors in this lakeside
spot near Lucca. Puccini chose to settle in Torre
