DESTINATION - BAYREUTH
Wagner Festival - Bayreuth 2010

This
annual festival is held in the famous theatre
created by Wagner himself specifically for the
performance of his own works. The location of
Bayreuth was made for many reasons not the least
of which was the view that the town had no other
cultural strengths which would compete with
the work of the Wagner Theatre. The theatre
opened in 1876 and the many architectural innovations
were responses to Wagner’s demand for
a more ‘democratic’ seating arrangement,
a clear view of the stage for all the audience
and for the accommodation of the huge orchestra
required in Wagner’s operas. It is the
dream of Wagner enthusiasts to hear his works
at the Festival and Operas Abroad is pleased
to be able to offer these exclusive tickets.
Bayreuth has many attractions apart from the
Wagner Theatre, they include the Museum, Castle
Tower, Margravial Opera House (a baroque theatre,
very different from the Wagner Theatre), New
Castle with its Margrave Fountain and Wagner’s
House where Cosima and Richard Wagner are buried.
The historic city of Nuremberg is very close
to Bayreuth and it can be reached very easily
by rail or taxi.
The tickets cannot be purchased without also
booking hotel accommodation and although flights
are not included in the package price we will
be pleased to book flights and transfers between
the airport and your hotel. Flight options between
the UK and Nuremberg Airport include direct
flights with Air Berlin from London Stansted.
The demand for tickets is always greater than
the availability so early booking is strongly
recommended.
The same price applies at all the hotels we
offer except for the Hotel Goldener Ankor where
there is an additional cost of £70 per
person per night. The prices shown do not include
flights or transfers. Payment in full for ticket(s)
and hotel accommodation is required in full
at the time of booking. All the tickets offered
are for good seats in the stalls in seating
areas A1 – A5 This covers all the stalls
area (Rows 1-30) except for the seats to the
extreme left and right where the view is slightly
angled. These offers are subject to price variation
